ICT Facility at Central University of Jharkhand
University Technical Cell

The Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) is connected to National Knowledge Network (NKN) through optical fibre link with a bandwidth of 1 GBPS. A well-established Data centre is placed at CUJ campus that includes 7 servers for Network and System administration. The entire CUJ campus is networked through optical fibre and powerful layer 3 / layer 2 (managed & unmanaged) Cisco switches and Routers housed at the CUJ Data centre. The network is secured through a Hardware firewall. The University provide 24 hours Network and Authenticated Internet access to all its employees and students placed at different departments of campus, Hostels , Staff Quarters & Visitors to enjoy the flexibility to access web and exchange resourceful information from anywhere within campus. CUJ has established computer laboratory for students. All IT and computer related activities are performed by the cell.

e-governance

CUJ has started working on Project Samarth - A project under National Mission in Education through ICT to automate University details, Academic, Administration, HR, Account & Finance, Establishment, Governance and student related servuces. CUJ has started implementing online recruitment, admission and other academic activities through Project Samarth. All students and employees are provided smart identity cards. All departments including Administration and Academics are connected through LAN. CUJ has well equipped Video Conferencing System that helps students and faculty members to attend the video conference session, online programs and activities. Each student and employee of university has been provided with a separate Google based CUJ email account . IT & Planning department are also engaged in Managing & Updating the CUJ website and the information in different web portasl that are related to CUJ and conducting IT related workshops at CUJ. IT & Planning department Performs all other activities as and when assigned & required by higher authority of CUJ.

ICT INFRASTRUCTURE AT PERMANENT MANATU CAMPUS

CUJ has started the process of creating its own ICT infrastructure at Manatu Campus.

The Internet Service Provider (ISP) link shall be terminated at the Computer Center/Admin Building on a WAN Edge Router, which will be supplied by the ISP. The WAN edge Router will connect to the University Router/Edge Router. The University Router further connects to a Firewall. The Firewall connects to a Chassis-based Network core Switch. The chassis-based core switch will then distribute it to various distribution switches over the campus with redundant uplinks. The network includes a backbone of 25G all the way from core layer to distribution layer and 10G from distribution to access layer. The distribution switches shall also house Fiber ports with 10/25G uplinks and the access switches shall be at least partially Multigigabit capable with 10G uplinks.

OFC will be terminated at each Building/Block and each Building/Block will be fully coved through wireless (Wi-Fi). The wireless solution shall comprise of two types of Indoor access points; one for regular/normal density environments and the other for high density environments. There shall also be Outdoor access points for deployment in the campus areas.

BSNL has supplied and installed 46 access points through OPEX model to provide the uninterrupted supply of Internet Access with 200 MBPS bandwidth in the Entire Building areas of the University Campus – (Administrative Building, Academic Building, Library Building and Admission office ) of Cheri-Manatu Campus, Ranchi. This OPEX model infrastructure will run in the permanent Manatu Campus till the completion of permanent ICT infrastructure at Manatu Campus.
