Brief Profile

Dr. Shakir Tasnim is an actor, director and theatre educator. He qualified NET in Performing Arts (Theatre) and NET-JRF in Urdu Literature. He started his career in theatre from SRC, New Delhi and later obtained his Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan. He has been trained by the world renowned theatre director Eugenio Barba at Odin Teatret, Denmark and actively involved in the field of theatre for the last 24 years. He has presented research papers in National and International seminars. He was awarded by Delhi Urdu Academy for securing the highest CGPA in M. Phil degree. He has directed plays like: Pagla Ghoda, Court Martial, Waiting for Godot, Sari Raat, Das Din Ka Anshan, Doosra Adhyay etc and acted in Court Martial, Enemy of the People, Cherry Orchard, Madhyam Vyayog, Panchhi Aise Aate Hain, Rise and Fall of City of Mahagony and many more. His directed plays have been invited to perform in many prestigious National Theatre Festivals in India. As a freelancer, he was engaged in casting with Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company in Mumbai.

  2. Directed a full-length play “Collage of Emotions” (a devised play) with first year MPA and BPA students at Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi.On  15th April, 2019

Directed a full length play “Return of Eklavya” by Salam bin Razzaque with the students of Central University of Jharkhand, performed in a National Theatre Festival at Audrey House, Ranchi Later converted in one act and won the 2nd best play award in Zonal Youth Festival at Darbhanga.
