The Department of Energy Engineering (DEE), earlier known as the Centre for Energy Engineering, came into existence in July 2011 under the School of Engineering and Technology. The department is committed to uphold the vision and mission of the University for the overall Development of the region, and the country by emphasizing on the needs of renewable energy technologies and their applications for the common masses. The department is currently running a five-year integrated B. Tech.-M. Tech. program and offering 2 years M. Tech. as well as Ph.D. program in Energy Engineering. Six batches (2011-16, 2012-17, 2013-18, 2014-19, 2015-20 and 2016-21) of integrated M. Tech. consisting of a total of 180 students and four batches (2017-19, 2018-20, 2019-21 and 2020-22) of 2-year M. Tech. consisting of 76 students have already passed out. Integrated B. Tech. & M. Tech. in Electrical Engineering has been started with an intake capacity of 60 students from the year 2022. The department is in the process of developing a new high quality research facility in Energy Engineering under a development and innovation-friendly environment for nurturing and promoting novel ideas with intensive interaction and co-operations at local, regional, national, and international levels. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence in Green and Efficient Energy Technology with funding under the FAST scheme of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India is a step in that direction. The department has already signed/taken initiative to sign MoU with a few specialized national/international level organizations/institutions working in the field of energy.
