The Department of Mathematics, formerly known as Centre for Applied Mathematics was established in July 2009 under the School of Natural Sciences. The department started offering the Integrated M.Sc. Program in Applied Mathematics from academic session 2009-10. The Ph.D. degree in Mathematics has been started from the academic session 2013-2014. Further two years M.Sc. program has started from the academic session 2017-2018. Currently, the department has adopted National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020) and offers an integrated 5-years (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) program with a provision to take diversified courses up to 40 % of the total credit to obtain a B. Sc. (Hon's) degree after 4-years. There are four highly motivated, devoted regular faculty members with ample experience of teaching and research. The faculty members have more than 100 research papers published in reputed national and international journals. The faculty members of the department used to offer multidisciplinary and skill enhancement courses such as Mathematics in Every Day Life, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Thinking etc. The department also offers minor courses to students of other departments and offers Mathematics-I, II, III, Discrete Mathematics etc. to the students of all the Engineering departments.
