Brief Profile

Dr. Rajesh Kumar has been associated with the discipline of media education as a distinguished academician, researcher, administrator and media professional. He has more than one and half decades of experience in academia and industry. Dr. Kumar holds PhD in Mass Communication on ‘Mapping Media Education in Universities of Eastern India’. He has produced qualitative publications in UGC CARE and SCOPUS Indexed Journals and has also contributed and translated course content for eGyankosh: A National Digital Repository and IGNOU, New Delhi. Dr. Kumar is the Editor of two books titled ‘The Unsung Warriors of Freedom Movement’ and ‘Jharkhand Ke Veer Saputon Ki Gaurav Gatha’ and has contributed articles on policy matters in the Employment News, Publication Division, MIB, Govt. of India. As a Co-Principal Investigator, he has completed ICSSR Short Term Empirical Research Project titled ‘Institutional Readiness and Existing Status of Implementation of National Education Policy 2020: A Case Study of School Education in Jharkhand’.He has been invited as an expert on Media Education in the Doordarshan and All India Radio Programs.His areas of interest are Media Education, Media Litearcy, Media Theories, Media Models, Communication Research, Print and Digital Media. At present he is supervising Three PhD Scholars at present and has guided more than 30 Dissertations at Postgraduate level. Dr. Kumar has been Editor of multiple publications. Those include: Academia: Faculty Profile of CUJ, Anveshan: Research Profile of CUJ, Journey from Despair to Hope: A Silhouette, CUJian Age, CUJ Newsletter, and Editorial Members of Vaagmita: Annual Magazine and Coffee Table Book. He has also worked in newspaper industry where he contributed more than 30 articles and has planned and prepared layout, design and make up for more than 500 pages. Dr. Kumar has actively been engaged in Administrative and Extra-curricular activities and has contributed immensely for the development of a newly established university as a Sports In-charge, NCC Officer, NSS Officer In-charge, Communication Officer, IQAC Member, Administrative Warden, Proctor In-charge, Warden, Coordinators, Conveners and Members of various cultural, sports, examination and hostel committees.
