The department of education (under the school of education) was established in 2013 with the Four-Year Integrated B.A. B.Ed. and B.Sc. B.Ed. programmes. The department started to offer Two Year B.Ed. programme from the academic session 2015-2016, and PhD programme from the academic session 2018-2019. The department is committed to prepare competent and dedicated teachers, researchers and other educationalists who can justify their position in academia and research world. The department is determined to provide global standard education to its students/stakeholders through its quality curriculum, innovative teaching learning process and benchmark evaluation system. The faculty members of the department have good academic and research contribution at national and global levels. They have expertise in handing many national and/or international projects/programmes/activities. The department has adequate and well-maintained infrastructure facilities including smart classrooms, science/social science/mathematics/language/psychology labs with sophisticated instruments, curriculum lab with text materials/reference materials/ scholarly documents/educational reports, educational resource centre that included digital and non-digital teaching learning materials/aids, musical instruments, drama accessories and other facilities as per the need and requirement. The department has all sorts of advanced technological facilities to cater the demands of its students and other users in this twenty first century. The faculty members of the department are putting continuous effort to make the department as a nodal centre for providing extension and mentoring facilities to the faculty members, researchers, administrators, students and many other stakeholders of colleges, universities and other educational institutions of the country through organizing training and orientation programmes/workshops/capacity building programmes/seminars/conferences/academic meet, etc. The ‘Training and Extension Cell’ of the department is created to facilitate the training and extension facilities to the clients in the field of education and its allied areas starting from the regional level to national level. The department aspires to be a pioneering department at national and international level by creating an excellent culture in its academics, research, training and extension activities, collaborative works and other related tasks/activities.
